Abergwynant Lodge Dolgellau Gwynedd Wales
For nature lovers and bird spotters there are two RSPB reserves in the Mawddach Valley, the Arthog and the Coed Garth Gell. The Arthog is close to the mouth of the Mawddach Estuary on the south side of the river. Coed Garth Gell, further down the valley offers superb scenery and beautiful walks through oak woodland. In the spring, pied flycatchers, wood warblers, and redstarts can be seen and heard. Different types of warblers, reed buntings, herons and water rails can be seen at Arthog. Ravens and buzzards occur all year. |
Directions to the reserves can be obtained from a sign outside of the Information Centre, 2
miles/3.2 km west of Dolgellau on the A493 next to the toll bridge at
Penmaenpool.
