Pen yr Ole Wen, 978m, is a mountain in Snowdonia, North Wales. It is accessible from trails starting close to Ogwen Cottage on the A5 road in the Ogwen Valley, Conwy County. The mountain is popular with rock climbers. The mountain lies to the north of Ogwen Cottage, from where it has a pyramidal appearance. It may be climbed from a path close to the car park at Ogwen Cottage that leads directly up the south west corner. A slightly easier ascent involves starting about a mile south-east from the car park, following a stream until nearing the outflow from the mountain lake Ffynnon Lloer and then branching left to take the path up the ridge. From the North take the A55 and leave the A55 at junction 11, then at roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A5 (signposted Betws-y-coed). At roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A5 (signposted Betws-y-coed), Continue forward onto Bangor Road - A5 and arrive at Pont Pen-y-benglog (Car Park at Ogwen Cottage). From the South get onto the A470 and continue forward onto the A470, entering Dolwyddelan. At T-junction turn left onto the A5 (signposted Betws-y-Coed)and continue forward onto the A5 and enter Betws-Y-Coed then bear right onto the A5, entering Capel Curig and then continue forward entering Pont Pen-y-benglog.
