Alma Street Beaumaris Anglesey Wales
The picture of Beaumaris Seafront shows boats on the Menai Strait with rows of colourful Georgian houses as a backdrop. The tower of the medieval Beaumaris Church, or to be exact the Church of SS Mary and Nicholas, stands to the rear of the terraced houses. Beaumaris was founded as an English bastide town in the late 14th Century following the construction of Beaumaris Castle as part of Edward 1's (Edward Longshanks) attempt to subdue the Welsh. Today the town is popular as a seaside resort with a grand little pier from where boat trips sail around the beautiful Anglesey coastline.
