A spacious, period property with wood burners and large enclosed play area. A great base for exploring both Carmarthenshire and the Brecon Beacons National Park. . The delightful village of Cilycwm is nestled in the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside, a short drive from Llandovery. Cwm House, dating back to the 1700’s, sits in the village opposite the church and popular village pub. Records show that the house was once an inn on the drover’s route, where livestock including cattle, sheep, pigs and even geese were herded miles from their farms to markets as far away as London and the home counties. The original drovers gutters are still visible in the village today. The house was rebuilt in 1835 by a local carpenter and records show it was a dwelling and shop. It was sold to the Neuadd Fawr Estate in 1863 and its name was changed to Cwm House in the 20th Century. The listed property is a fine example of a 19th Century village house in the Georgian tradition with sash windows, stucco plinth and beams, but it has every modern comfort having been lovingly renovated. The owners who live very nearby, run a farm and they are pleased to offer stabling and grazing if required. There is a bridleway and a public footpath directly from the land at the rear of Cwm House as well as a large enclosed garden to enjoy. Carmarthenshire, the largest county in southern Wales, stretches from Carmarthen Bay in the south to the mountainous landscapes of the western Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains in the north. It offers wide open spaces, wondrous gardens, ancient awe inspiring castles, wildlife and sandy beaches as well as market towns brimming with local produce, chic shopping and eateries. Llandeilo is one such town, less than 30 minutes drive away and the market town of Llandovery is just 10 minutes drive. HRH Prince Charles has a country residence nearby to Llandovery and it’s no wonder he chose this area, as the county is known as ’The Garden of Wales’ and is a haven for visitors looking to explore the traditions, culture and stories, discover the landscape which has become such a draw for walkers, cyclists, anglers (licence available locally) and lovers of the outdoors. Other places of interest nearby include Dolaucothi Goldmines, Llyn-y-Fan Fach, the lake that gave rise to the Arthurian legend of the Lady of the Lake and Excalibur, Cennen Castle and the Red Kite Feeding Station at Llanddeusant. .
