Bethesda is a town in Gwynedd, North Wales. It sits on the banks of the Ogwen River among the foothills of the Snowdonia mountains. When in Bethesda you are just 3 miles from the beautiful Menai Strait and yet 3 miles from Llyn Ogwen in the very heart of the Snowdonia National Park. The Douglas Arms, a pub in Bethesda, achieved a claim to fame when the introduction of the decimal currency system in 1971 was resisted by the then licensee Geoff Davies. He persisted with the old currency for some time and they can still quote you in pounds, shillings and pence if you like!
