Kington sits on the banks of the River Arrow in the county of Herefordshire, close to the border between England and Wales.
The national boundary runs along the Hergest Ridge as does the Offa's Dyke Path, one of Britain's most important National Trails. Not surprisingly this is excellent walking country and the countryside around Kington is noted for its spectacular views.... including the Brecon Beacons, the Black Mountains, and the Radnorshire Hills in Wales, and Hergest Ridge the Malvern and Clee Hills in England.
Walkers are spoilt for choice in Kington as two national trails cross within the town: the Offa's Dyke Path explores the borderlands; and the Mortimer Trail the lands to the east.
