Bike Trails round Lake
Vyrnwy, also showing Brecon,
Machynlleth
and Llanwrtyd Wells, in
Powys Mid Wales:
Lake Vyrnwy :
Vyrnwy is a beautiful
lake nestling in the foothills of the Berwyn Mountains, and although the
Lake is in deepest hilly Mid Wales the 12 mile shoreline provides a long,
flat, circular road. The journey around the lake offers a sculpture trail,
numerous picnic areas, as well as woodland walks and bird watching in the
surrounding unspoilt countryside. It is ideal as a family trail and is quite
suitable for ordinary bicycles, making Vyrnwy a great location for a biking
holiday. You have a choice of bringing your own bikes or you can hire bikes
from the shop near the Dam. The "Artisans Coffee Shop" is opposite
the RSPB visitor centre and they offer a wide variety of light meals and
refreshments as well as providing bicycle hire. Check here for availability

A map is not a necessity on this trail as you simply follow the shoreline
of the Lake for the 12 mile route and you return to the start, albeit on
the other side of the Dam. (Don't worry, you can cross the Dam to return
to the start.)
