Wales is renowned for its castles and ancient sites. Many of the castles,
including Conwy Castle, Beaumaris
Castle, Rhuddlan Castle and of course Caernarfon
Castle are World Heritage Sites. Indeed Conwy
town, the classic walled town with it's circuit of walls being over
three quarters of a mile long and guarded by no less than 22 towers, is
one of the finest examples of a walled town in Europe.
We also list the Old Churches that are to be found over the length and
breadth of Wales, including many that were founded over a thousand years
ago by the early Christian Saints,
But a thousand years is still modern history when compared to the age
of the ancient burial chambers and standing stones that are scattered
throughout Wales. We list the locations of these ancient sites from Bryn
Celli Ddu in Anglesey in the North to Pentre Ifan, a Bronze-Age megalithic
site in Pembrokeshire in the South of Wales.
Please visit the sites while on holiday in Wales whether you want to make
a specific holiday for the Castles and the heritage, or just visit the
sites while taking a weekend break in Wales.
