Welsh Americans and Llanbrynmair
Are you a descendant of the Welsh families who settled in America? The parish of Llanbrynmair is reputed to have been the source of the most emigrants, per capita, to America of any in Wales. A large proportion of these emigrants settled in western Ohio, particularly in the rural farming communities of Paddy's Run (now Shandon), Gomer and Venedocia. The two most prominent emigrants were Edward Bebb and Ezekiel Hughes, who settled in Butler County, Ohio near Paddy's Run. Edward Bebb's son, William, became governor of the State of Ohio. If you believe your ancestors may have come from Llanbrynmair to settle in Ohio why not post a message here and start a conversation. Are you a Jones, a Hughes, an Evans, a Lloyd, a Vaughan or a Williams ? Who knows you might meet up with your distant relatives who still live in Wales, or simply start a conversation with other like-minded Americans with an interest in tracing their Welsh roots.
