Penrhosfeilw Standing
Stones are to be found in fields below Holyhead
Mountain on
the Isle of Anglesey. They are believed to be of the 2nd Millennium
BC and I find it heartening that they have not been been damaged or indeed
toppled during the thousands of years they have stood sentinel on Holy
Island.
The stones are almost 10ft, 3m, high and stand roughly the same distance
apart. Some say that they are part of a more complex monument and burial
chamber that has been destroyed but others insist that they have always
stood alone.
