Carwyn Jones AM. | Departments in the Llandudno Junction office include Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science, Education and Skills, Health, Social Services and Children, Local Government and Communities and Sustainable Futures. | The building provides not only a base for Welsh Assembly staff but also for public access, and the office has been designed to include a dedicated space, Y Bont, for people to call in and visit. | Y Bont gives people a chance to share their thoughts, and gives the government a chance to get closer to the people, providing a bilingual information and publications centre, exhibition space, free internet access and a café. | The North Wales Welsh Assembly Government regional office is built on a brown field site, namely the old Hotpoint Factory, and has been awarded a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, with a score of 75.8%, reflecting the wide range of sustainable solutions used to reduce the building’s carbon emissions. | The building in Llandudno Junction is the Greenest building in the Welsh Government’s estate. The design of the building incorporates materials that have a strong association with North Wales, including slate from Penrhyn Quarry in Bethesda. | In 2010, the 20th of May, the first minister buried a time capsual in the reception area of the new office, the contents inside the time capsual were chosen by local schools including Ysgol Y Creuddyn, Ysgol Aberconwy and many others. The schools worked over a year on this project, and the time capsual will be unearthed in 2060.
