Rhiwddolion is an abandoned village located in a remote upland above Betws-y-Coed, in Conwy County, North Wales. For a time there was a slate quarry and a community with its own chapel, school and accommodation for quarrymen, but when the quarrying industry collapsed it became depopulated. Today the abandoned cottages are curiosities for those using the forest trails that criss-cross the landscape. The Sarn Helen Roman Road runs through the village and there may have been more footsteps in Rhiwddolion in bygone days than there are today as travellers tramped over the mountains from the Conwy Valley to Carmarthen in South Wales.....
