The Afon Glaslyn is a river in Snowdonia, Gwynedd, North Wales. It has its source in Llyn Glaslyn, a lake in a cwm on the eastern slopes of Snowdon. The Afon Glaslyn then passes through Llyn Llydaw on it's way to the Glaslyn Estuary. It is joined by Nant Cynnyd before entering the picturesque Llyn Gwynant. The river then flows through another lake, Llyn Dinas, before entering the small village of Beddgelert. Here it is joined by the Afon Colwyn which drains the south western slopes of Snowdon. The river then flows down the Pass of Aberglaslyn. Heavy rain in the hills can change the Afon Glaslyn from a peaceful river to a raging torrent especially as it passes through the narrow gorge of the Aberglaslyn Pass.
