Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda, Gwynedd, Wales,
Zip World has the longest zip wire in Europe – in Penrhyn Quarry, in Snowdonia National Park – “The nearest thing to flying”!!
The Zip World site contains two specially constructed and spectacular zip lines, the first will take you down to the bottom of the quarry where you will pick up your specialised vehicle for a magnificent quarry tour, before zip lining back for a mile to the start.
With speeds of 75 mph, travelling 700ft above the mountain lake, be ready for a ride of a lifetime!
The 1600 metres (approximately 1 mile) long zip line has been built in the disused part of Penrhyn slate quarry in Bethesda, North Wales. Plans for this ambitious proposal have been backed by Gwynedd County Council planners.
The developers, Zip World Ltd, hope the attraction will attract 30,000 visitors a year.
The Zip Line will be 700ft above a lake and will offer fantastic views of North Wales.
Spokesman Sean Taylor said the wire is of a "world standard". The company claims the zip wire will be the world's second longest, with the longest currently in South Africa. ....
