Elidir Fawr (923m)is a mountain in Snowdonia, North Wales. Part of the Glyderau range of mountains, Elidir Fawr is located to the east of Llyn Peris, north of Snowdon and west of Carnedd Dafydd. The Dinorwig power station, a pump-storage power station, is located deep inside the mountain. Llyn Peris supplies the water to be pumped to the storage reservoir, the Marchlyn Mawr reservoir at the summit of Elidir Fawr. The water is pumped to the top reservoir at times of low electricity demand and released through the turbines at times of great demand (the half time advertisements during Coronation Street!). The walk up to the summit can be undertaken from the Deiniolen side or from Nant Peris. ....
