Fantastic mountain bike routes for all abilities right from the town centre of Machynlleth and purpose built single track in the Dyfi forest to the North.
The Cli-machx trail opened in 2005 and is sited in the Dyfi forest. It's a 15km (approx. 9 miles) round trip, with 9km (approx. 5.5 miles) of built single track. The last descent is the longest in Wales and features many rocky jumps with the finale being a sequence of huge berms following quickly after each other. There is also plenty of free-riding in the forest that is not way-marked, so you will need a map. The Holey Trail bike shop in Machynlleth has maps of specific recommended routes in the Dyfi, and cross-country routes in the area. This is mostly intermediate level with some advanced level. Allow 2 hours.
Please note, this is forest is used for motorsports about 5 weekends a year. No mountain biking on these days, we don't want anyone getting squished. Please see www.dyfimountainbiking.org.uk home page for closure dates.....
