High on the bleak Denbigh moors lies Llyn Aled, source of a river of the same name. A deep, weed-free natural lake of some 110 acres. At 1,250 feet above sea level it can be somewhat breezy and cool here even when the nearby coastal resorts are sweltering in a heatwave. Almost completely treeless for miles around, the shoreline is mostly natural mountain grassland. Three main species of fish are Pike and Perch, and roach. All three species are in large numbers and can reach good sizes for such an inhospitable environment; the pike going up to a known 22lbs.....
