Narberth High Street is renowned for its mix of independent and interesting shops, ranging from fine art to fine food, with the world of fashion being supported by a number of shops and upmarket boutiques. Pottery and craft shops have made Narberth the arts and crafts capital of Pembrokeshire and a very ‘happening' place to be.

In the middle of the High Street stands the Old Town Hall, a most unusual structure with a double stairway leading up to the entrance. Once the local jail, magistrates court and town hall, by 1858 it was falling into very bad repair and the court and magistrates relocated to a new building.

The town hall then became a 'Mechanics Institute' which included a library. In 1881 a clock tower was built and in 1912 another floor was added.

Today the old town hall is the Jelly Egg gallery and gift shop, but it still houses the cell where the leaders of the Rebecca Riots were imprisoned.
