Dinefwr Castle dates from the 12th century. Located on the outskirts of the attractive market town of Llandeilo, once the capital of South Wales, this magnificent 18th-century landscape park was home to many famous Welsh kings and nobles, including Hywel Dda and the Lord Rhys. The deer park is an internationally important Site of Special Scientific Interest, with beautiful old trees, a herd of fallow deer and the celebrated Dinefwr White Park cattle. Paths through the estate give superb views over the Towy Valley and a boardwalk, suitable for families and wheelchair users, meanders through attractive Bog Wood. There is also access to Dinefwr Castle (CADW).At the heart of the park is Newton House, a 17th-century building enveloped in a Victorian Gothic fa?ade. Following restoration, it is now open and contains an exhibition explaining the significance of Dinefwr is Welsh history. The fountain garden at the rear of the house is currently under restoration.....
