Garden Tour: Glansevern Hall is romantically positioned on the banks of the River Severn. The gardens extend over more than 20 acres. There is a gentle walk from the gardens to the river edge. The gardens are noted for their collection of unusual trees, many in a lakeside setting. The path around the lake passes through mixed woodland, under-planted with flowering shrubs. Ornamental shelters provide resting places on the way. An iron footbridge crosses the upper end of the lake, offering views down the entire length of the open water. The lakeside walk passes through a water garden profusely planted with Begonias, Hostas, Candelabra Primulas and other water-loving plants. Closer to the house are formal gardens with lawns, herbaceous beds and borders. An ornamental fountain is enclosed by a pergola, festooned with Wisteria and other climbing plants. The huge rock garden and the grotto passing beneath it are a Victorian extravaganza dating from about 1840. The orangery faces south through Ginkgo trees towards the central fountain. The walled garden was entirely remodeled during 2001. It has become a garden of secluded corners and secret places. Not far away, a romantic folly looks down on the River Severn. Various sculptures lend extra interest to a walk through the gardens. The house and gardens look out across the valley towards the distant Kerry Hills. Visitor Information: There is ample free car parking (coaches welcome by prior arrangement). The Lakeside Walk and Water Garden have limited wheelchair access but all other areas, including the Tea Room, are fully accessible. There is free admission to our Tea Room (where the food is deliciously home-made), and our Gallery Shop for lovely gifts and ceramics. Herbaceous plants are for sale in the courtyard. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead.....
