The 2009 National Eisteddfod of Wales, the Meirioneth and District National Eisteddfod, will be held in the town of Bala, Meirionethshire on the 1 - 8 AUGUST 2009. The National Eisteddfod of Wales can be traced back to the 12th Century when it is said that the first Eisteddfod was held under the auspices of Lord Rhys. A grand gathering was held in Cardigan to which were invited poets and musicians from all over Wales.
