Inigo Jones Slate Works was founded in 1861 to produce school writing slates from natural welsh slate. Today the company produces architectural,landscape, memorial and craft products from natural welsh slate. There are daily self guided tours of the works which includes a video on how slate is mined and quarried.A walkman gives an explanation of the various processes at the works and there are geological, historical, calligraphy and letter cutting exhibitions. There is an opportunity to have a go at calligraphy and letter cutting and every visitor gets a piece of slate to have a go at engraving on that they get to keep as a souvenir.A childrens quiz also includes a slate prize. Modern showroom includes the company's slate products and also there are other quality celtic and welsh craft products for sale.The Welsh Rock cafe on site provides an ideal place for a drink or a meal.
