With the second edition of the A55 guide imminent, this venue will only continue to grow in popularity. With it's fantastic mix of low to mid grade sport routes it offers itself as an ideal roadside crag to cut your teeth on as a newcomer to the sport. Parking at the lay by on Abergele Road is ideal with only a two minute walk in to the crag and the walk back up the steps after climbing offers a great work out to clear the lactic acid! The rock varies in character from quarried crimps to flowstone flutings. There are loads of routes to go at so I've no doubt you'll visit Penmaen Head again and again. It is an ideal crag to stop off at on the way to or from visiting the mountains of Snowdonia. The rock varies in character from quarried crimps to flowstone flutings.
