St Marcella's Church (Llanfarchell in Welsh) was for many years the parish church of the medieval market town of Denbigh. Although sidelined to some extent in the 21st Century (the church yard is still used as the parish burial ground)the church is still an impressive building that can be seen in the Vale of Clwyd for miles around. Also known as Whitchurch, after its whitewashed exterior, and Eglwys Wen or Llanfarchell in Welsh. The church is renowned for the several monuments to distinguished Elizabethan gentry found within the church, and for being the burial place of Twm o'r Nant the famous Welsh poet.
