Merthyrmawr Road North Bridgend Bridgend_County Wales
The market town of Bridgend flourished during the industrial age, and became the most important town in the district. There had been a church here since the 1500s, built as a 'chapel of ease' to the parish church at Coity. This was replaced with a new building in the 1830s. By the late 1800s it was decided that the existing church provided sufficient accommodation for the growing community and congregation, and the decision as taken to build a new church, and John Pritchard, diocesan architect at the me, was commissioned to do the work. The building is of a floor size typical of those built during this period, but also unusually tall. It will seat in excess of 400 people.
