7 Gold Tops Newport Newport_County Wales
This fine Victorian gothic Church in central Newport has an elegant tower which has both a rose window with beautiful tracery and also a well-wrought quarterly chiming clock. The tower and that of the Civic Centre dominate the view from the railway station platform. St Mark's was built in 1874 by Habershon's, a local firm of architects, responsible for the Victorian restoration of St Woolos Cathedral. The Church contains finely carved woodwork i.e. rood screen, chancel panelling and reredos, pulpit, lectern steps and font, together with the screen in the tower.
