, Aberffraw, Anglesey, Wales

Aberffraw beach, or Traeth Mawr as it is known in Welsh, is a beautiful long sandy beach set against a backdrop of glorious sand dunes. Some say the beach is the best in Anglesey and indeed the beach is popular with locals and visitors alike. The beach is particularly attractive in its setting next to the inlet of the Afon Ffraw and the rocky headland of Braich-lwyd.
Aberffraw Dunes are as high as 30 feet and more and they are a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and also a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
Aberffraw beach has excellent water quality (2008). There are no beach facilities but a short walk takes you to the village of Aberffraw where there is both a village shop and a heritage centre and with luck the attractive looking old pub will have reopened (2008). A cafe with refreshments and toilet facilities is available at the Llys Llywelyn heritage centre.....
