MID Wales Assembly Members have officially received a petition containing
more than 2,000 signatures demanding more of a say on the building of
wind turbines in the area.
Alison Davies, chairman of Conservation of Upland Montgomeryshire, and
Dan Munford, the Welshpool businessman behind the campaign, handed the
results over to Mick Bates AM and Glyn Davies AM at the Assembly’s
new building in Cardiff.
The petition will now be registered as an official Assembly document.
Both AMs have also agreed to accept the results from the County Times’
readers poll, which showed that as much as 83 per cent of people did not
want more wind turbines to be built in Powys.
“I think that the Assembly have got to sit up and take notice of
what the people of Mid Wales are saying now,” said Mr Munford.
The above report came from the Powys
County Times >
Personally I believe the massive wind turbines are one of the the biggest
cons ever perpetrated on the people of the UK.
Wales for example can fulfill any obligation to supply sustainable energy
by the use of
tidal lagoons or barrages. This has been known for many years but
has never been seriously considered as the construction time would take
longer than the life of a single parliament. This would mean that the
politicians could not gain any credit for the project and it would therefore
not be worth any votes. It follows that , as with all long term investments
in this age of short term, and quick fix, the project has no chance of
coming to fruition.
I remember the construction of the French Barrage scheme in northern
france in the 1960's, I believe at that time it was called "Zeta
power". Well the French actually built the Barrage and it has supplied
energy to the French National Grid every day, twice a day, for the last
40 years, without fail. Unlike wind turbines which will FAIL several times
EVERY DAY , by the lack of or excess of wind, tidal power is GUARANTEED
EVERY DAY by the moon's gravity pull.
