Village location
The village of Hayfield which can be traced back as far as the Bronze Age, is known as the ’Gateway to Kinder’ and lies at the foot of the Kinder Massif, the southern-most point of the Pennine Chain and on the edge of the Peak District National Park. There are many activities in the village including cricket on the green, the Annual Country Show and Sheepdog Trials as well as fell racing. A good selection of pubs and restaurants makes this a lively local community. Hayfield is a perfect starting point for exploring the many walking, cycling and riding trails around including the Sett Valley, Snake Path, Kinder, Kinder Woods, Kinder Massif and Lantern Pike. Equally spectacular are the caverns of the Peak District which can be found approximately 10 miles away near Castleton or Buxton, also known for its abundant 19th century architecture including the opera house, crescent and Pavillion Gardens.
Mary Miller’s Paper Shop (W42369), as its name suggests, is the former shop and has been superbly refurbished to offer delightful, modern accommodation with quality furnishings whilst retaining much of its original character and features.
Outside to the rear there is a secluded small decked area. Mary Miller’s Cottage (W42370), has also been refurbished to the same superb standard and tastefully decorated. Outside there is also a secluded decked area offering possibilities for al fresco dining whilst overlooking the quiet waters of the River Sett.
