Haslington Hall
Haslington, Crewe, Cheshire. Cheshire, England
This imposing Grade I listed hall (REE8) and lodge (RJJ2) stand detached within the grounds of Haslington Hall's 15 acres of beautiful countryside, including grounds with fishing lakes and mature trees. There is a shared swimming-pool as well as enclosed gardens. Although greatly added to over the centuries, Haslington Hall (REE8) claims to have part of its structure dating from 1840, though the main founder of the hall was Admiral Sir Francis Vernon (who sailed with Sir Francis Drake against the Armada), who completed his part of building - the timber framed hall back in 1545. What makes the hall striking is its elaborate black-and-white frame (which was a significent status symbol during that time). For visitors who can tear themselves away from this magnificent setting, there are superb walks from the properties with the promise of discovering the English history concealed within the rolling Cheshire hills and farmland. The property also makes an ideal base to explore the battle grounds of Cheshire. During the 17th-century civil war there was great unrest in the area and Haslington and Crewe were pillaged by marauding Royalist Troops. Haslington boasts three good pubs, including the historic 500-year old Hawk Inn. Located a mere three miles from Crewe, this makes the perfect base from which to explore all Cheshire and the stunning Peak District.......
