A fine example of an historic hall in all its glory, this magnificent property has been completely designed around its key feature - the great hall. Set within a wing of the property, the holiday accommodation has been tastefully refurbished in a mix of traditional, streamline and contemporary style and its grandeur has such a presence upon the estate that was once the Welsh seat of the Williams Wynn family. The original hall burnt down in 1856, and a frieze which now surrounds the ballroom area tells of such a tale. The parkland that houses the hall was landscaped by Capability Brown, and is home to a communal tennis court and a five-a-side pitch. Grade II listed, the property also has strong connections with World War II.
Wynnstay Hall occupies a prominent position from which visitors can explore three great counties: Shropshire, Cheshire and mid/north Wales. The historic city of Chester, with its famous Rows, cathedral and city walls, is less than twenty minutes by car or ten minutes on the train and perfect for a day’s shopping. Llangollen - renowned as a world famous tourist stop, attracting thousands of visitors to its classic International Eisteddfod held in July every year lies approximately 5 miles distant. Shrewsbury, with its cosmopolitan air, is also great for shopping and, like Chester, has a wide variety of bars, clubs and top class restaurants. There are endless activities available within a 30-minute drive including white water rafting, go karting, paintballing, golf, fishing, horse riding as well as numerous beautiful walks amidst some of the most stunning countryside this area has to offer. Chester Zoo is but a short distance away and provides a wonderful day out for all the family, whilst for those interested in heritage, the National Trust properties of Chirk Castle (home to the Myddelton family until recently) and Erddig, probably the move evocative ‘upstairs downstairs’ house in Britain, are well worth a visit. A little further afield is the historic town of Ruthin, home to the beautifully restored Nantclwyd y Dre town house, and the Ruthin Craft Centre which features a programme of regular art and craft exhibitions throughout the year, and in the county town of Mold is Clwyd Theatr Cymru theatre. Shop 2 miles.
