Monmouth, 5 miles, the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean, and the Black Mountains are easily reached, offering a wealth of Border castles. Golf, swimming, riding and mountain-biking are available locally. Less than an hour are Blaenavon World Heritage site, Big Pit coalmine, Cardiff Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Bay Opera House.
