Brangwen, authentic Welsh Doll

The tidal estuaries of North Wales have long supported a way of life devoted to making a living from the sea, none more so than the cocklers of the Dee estuary in north east Wales.
The Welsh Doll Brangwen is depicted selling the fruits of the sea harvest. She wears a short open-fronted bedgown with the two sides pinned back, an underskirt, apron and sleeve guards. Her hat is a typical early 19th century style of cockle bonnet, with a frilled underbonnet and she carries a large basket full of cockles
As with all the Welsh Dolls Brangwen stands 14 high, has porcelain head, hands and half-legs. Her features are carefully china painted and she has life-like eyes and a soft brown mohair wig.
