The Dysynni Valley is one of Wales most beautiful valleys. The Dyssini River flows through the valley from the east before spilling into Cardigan Bay close to Tywyn. To the north west sits the massive mountainous block of Cadair Idris including Mynydd Pennant and Pen y Garn. To the south east sits the huge rock known as Craig yr Aderyn and a pass cuts through the hills to the village of Abergynolwyn.
Within the valley itself little moves but for sheep and cattle and the occasional walker or cyclist. The ruins of the picturesque Castell y Bere hide among the trees on a rocky outcrop while at the head of the valley the old church of Llanfihangel-y-Pennant slumbers amidst the tombstones of generations of Jones' and Evans's.
