Llanfechain is a small village in the county of Powys, Mid Wales. It lies south of Llanyblodwel, northeast of Llanfyllin and north of Bwlch y cibau.
A popular village show is traditionally held in Llanfechain in August each year.
In the centre of the village sits St Garmon's church, an historic church with much of the fabric dating from the 12th century.
It retains Norman windows in the east wall and two round-headed doorways on the south side. Inside there is a 15th century arched-braced roof. It is sited within a raised circular churchyard that also contains a 'preaching mound' and a sundial. The east wall has retained three small windows at the expense of the customary large, east window; two of these at least are original. There are also two Norman doorways, the main south door and a priest's door. The bell turret is 19th century and there is a 17th century (restored) porch.
