Cardiff Castle
City of Cardiff , our last night out.

Bearing in mind the long journey back to North Wales we decided on  a low key walk about for our last night. We started with an uninspiring visit to an "eat as much as you like" Chinese restaurant in St Mary Street. The food was well presented and there was a wide choice, including a selection of starters , main courses, and sweets and fresh fruit. But I have to admit that I preferred the meal at the Nando's restaurant the night before.

After our meal we ventured out of St Mary Street and had a walk round the pedestrianised shopping precinct. Aneurin Bevan, or rather his statue was hectoring a small group of people .........not wishing to have a dispute with the founder of the National Health Service we quickly passed by. Eira Wyn was window shopping while I was looking out for an interesting looking Pub.

Cardiff has an abundance of such Pubs and we chose one near to the St John the Baptist Church. As with all the Pubs and Restaurants we visited in Cardiff the customers were intent on having a good time but in a happy , peaceful manner. We did not see a hint of any trouble as so often can be the case.

A cheeky chappie type of lad joined the table next to ours, giving the impression of a long lost friend reuniting with his mates. He was well practiced, and it wasn't till he offered them red roses that we realised he was on the make. But he seemed like a happy guy and when it became our turn he took my refusal in good stead. The smoochy couple on the other side of the aisle were an obvious target and I made a bet with Eira Wyn that they would be his best target. Sure enough when the girl managed to break the lip suction long enough to visit the loo two red roses and ten pound notes exchanged hands. On her return the girl was suitably impressed and the smooching restarted.

We left for an early night but as we walked back to the hotel did I hear a "distressed bird" squawking in the Cardiff night air?
