About Red Wharf Bay

Red Wharf Bay is located between the towns of Benllech and Pentraeth on the east coast of the Isle of Anglesey. There are two fine restaurants on the seafront(one of which is a pub / restaurant) with fantastic views of Traeth Coch(Red Beach)from which the village takes it's name. Catch the tide at the right time and Red Wharf Bay has a glorious strand of golden sands. The beach is great for the children with rock pools and shells galore.

Walkers will be tempted to cross the impressive sandy bay but being almost 3 miles across, 4.5km, it is safer to skirt the high tide line. There is glorious countryside around the bay and the Anglesey Coastal Path passes through the village on it's way from Penmon Point to Benllech and northern Anglesey. The village has a small promenade with plenty of parking for day visitors, and an ice cream van visits during the good weather.
