Pontardawe lies north of Swansea in the county of Neath Port Talbot, South Wales. Pontardawe sits on the Banks of the River Tawe (its name means “bridge over the Taweâ€)and the stone bridge was built by William Edwards, who also erected the bridges at Pontypridd and Cenarth, West Wales.
The world famous Pontardawe Music Festival takes place here every August. The event features dancing, singing and artistic performances and attracts many visitors each year. As well as the festival, several pubs in the town host live music nights on the weekends, whilst the Film Society show 20 well known films throughout the year.
