Llanwrtyd Wells :
The very first Mountain Bike centre in the British Isles was opened in
Llanwrtyd Wells in 1985. and this twenty year association with the sport
makes sure you'll have a warm welcome in the town, Officially Britain's
smallest town, Llanwrtyd Wells is big on mountain biking holidays. The town
is ideally situated with thousands of acres of forest and hillside very
close to hand. Using the expertise developed over the years they provide
a variety of way marked trails and also incorporate rides suitable for familes
and ordinary cyclists alike. From the forest tracks and green lanes through
the beautiful valleys and over the rolling hills to the more challenging
mountain areas there is a great variety of trails to suit every level of
rider.
Victoria Wells Trail :
The Victoria Wells trail, 12.9kms (approx. 8 miles). This is a relatively
easy route. but there are some steady climbs and one slightly tricky descent.
Allow about 1.5 hours
Garn Trail :
The Garn trail, 17.5kms (approx. 11 miles). This route is a bit tougher
and there are some quite long climbs including one technical climb and two
short technical descents. Allow about 2 hours
Esgair Dafydd Trail :
The Esgair Dafydd trail, is 26kms (approx. 16.2 miles). There is one steep
and two long steady climbs with some stony patches. Allow between 3-4 hours
Irfon Forest Trail :
The Irfon Forest trail, 20.5kms (approx. 12.5 miles). There is quite a bit
of climbing involved with this trail but the scenery is well worth the effort.
Some of the climbs are long and there are some technical descents. Allow
between 2-3 hours
Mynydd Trawsnant Trail :
Mynydd Trawsnant trail, 27.6kms (approx. 17.2 miles). This is an undulating
route with some great scenery. Allow between 3-4 hours
There are also a number of routes using the minor roads, including :
The Three Rivers, 30.5kms (approx. 19 miles). A ride through rolling
valleys of the Afon Irfon, Cammarch and Cnyffiad. Allow about 4 hours
The Irfon View, 14kms (approx. 8.7 miles). This is an ideal family
route through Llangammarch Wells. Allow about 1-2 hours
The Llyn Brianne and the Devil's Staircase, 62kms (approx. 38.5 miles).
A challenging ride with some extremely tough climbs through fantastic scenery.
Allow about 5 hours
