Along the Sea Front Trail :
To the North of the county there is the option of cycling the relatively
flat North Wales Along the Sea Front trail.
This trail starts in Brickfields Pond, Rhyl, continues along the seafront
on the coastal cycle way to the town of Prestatyn. From Prestatyn
the route heads inland on the Prestatyn – Dyserth Way cycle
route and then on along the A547 to the outskirts of Rhuddlan from where
it returns to Rhyl. The course can be described as a very easy mountain
bike trail, being approximately 22Km , (14 miles), and taking about 2.5hrs.
Indeed the majority of the route is an easy bicycle route, there being only
a small amount of climb in the area around Dyserth and Meliden. Although
most of this route uses cycle ways there are some points which require riding
on roads which can be quite congested at times and care must be taken.
Travel further south in the beautiful Vale of Clwyd and we come to the "proper"
Mountain Bike Trails, which when combined with the historic market town
of Ruthin make the ideal
location for a mountain bike holiday.
Llyn Brenig Mountain Bike Trails :
To the south west of the county, high above the Vale on the Denbigh Moors
are the Llyn Brenig Trails. There are two trails,
one, Around The Lake, is an easy route that allows you to circumnavigate
Llyn (Lake) Brenig, a large man made reservoir. Click here for a map
of Llyn Brenig > The other Trail "Up to the Lake" taking
you through Clocaenog Forest and again around Llyn Brenig is a more difficult
trail of approximately 42km, (26miles) and you will need to allow about
4hrs for completion.
Clwyd Hills Mountain Bike Trails
:
To the south east of the county are the Clwyd Range of Mountains. It is
an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with magnificent scenery, small
villages, rolling hills and many miles of quiet trails. Most of the trails
are based in the hills between the towns of Ruthin and Mold, and there is
a large variety of trails from which to choose. Please click on the Map
to receive full information, and to check out the trails classed from very
easy to very difficult.
