The

The Rolls of Monmouth is an 18 hole parkland course located four miles west
of Monmouth on the road to Abergavenny. It is a magnificent championship
course opened in 1982 and ready to welcome any golfer eager to test himself
against a demanding 6,733 yards of parkland, streams and lakes. With many
magnificent specimen trees of great age throughout the parkland, as well
as a fine arboretum near the Mansion; with deer, water fowl, and abundant
wildlife; with panoramic views of the superb surrounding scenery, including
the Black Mountains on the horizon, it may be difficult to concentrate on
ones golf. The course is positioned within The Rolls Estate, the former
home of Charles Stewart Rolls, the early aviator and motoring enthusiast,
whose flying and ballooning exploits thrilled the nation and who, with Henry
Royce, founded the famous Rolls Royce Company. ---------------------------
The ancient market and border town of Monmouth itself is situated at the
confluence of the rivers Wye and Monnow, surrounded by hills in a region

West Monmouthshire Golf Club is situated close to the Brecon Beacons National
Park. It was established in 1906 and is officially the highest golf course
in Great Britain, with the highest point, the 14th Tee, being over 1,500
feet above sea level. This Tee offers spectacular views, including the beautiful
Sugar Loaf Mountain and the majestic Brecon Beacons. It's an 18 hole Heathland
/ Mountain course. When planning your golfing holiday remember its
well worth a visit if only to say you've played the 14th at West Monmouth.
Visitors both individual golfers and societies are welcome.

Monmouthshire Golf Club is located in north Monmouthshire bordering
on the south west of Powys. The Club sits in the Usk River valley on the
edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, close to the town of Abergavenny.
It is an 18 hole parkland course with scenic mountain views and wooded countryside.
The course, designed by the prolific James Braid, dates from 1892, ranking
it among the oldest courses in Wales. ------------------ Abergavenny'
itself is an historic market town that can trace its history back to Roman
times. The roman fort of Gobannium was established here in 57 or 58 A.D.
However, the real birth of the town dates to the period of the Norman conquest
of Wales in the late 11th century. In about 1087, Hamelin of Ballon, the
conqueror of northern Gwent, built a motte and bailey castle at Abergavenny.
This castle and the surrounding township were fortified with stone between
1290 and 1320 and the castle saw many attacks and much blood was shed in
its life time. The remains of the structure, two towers and a gate with
a large barbican, stand to this day on a spur above the river Usk.

Wernddu Golf Club is located in north Monmouthshire bordering on the south
west of Powys. It is situated 1½ miles north east of Abergavenny,
on the outskirts of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Wernddu is a family
run golf club in an undulating parkland course with magnificent views over
Abergavenny and the Black Mountains. A long front nine and shorter back
nine provide a challenging round of golf for golfers of all standards. Other
facilities include : 24 bay covered and floodlit driving range, 9 hole pitch

Monmouth Golf Club is a picturesque 18 hole, par 69 parkland course which
was founded in 1896, complete with deer, pheasants and other wildlife. Until
1992, it was a 9 hole course - at that time it was extended to 18 holes
and a new clubhouse built. The friendly and welcoming staff offer full catering
and bar facilities in the clubhouse, which boasts stunning views of the
beautiful surrounding countryside. Monmouth Golf Club is well known for
the friendly welcome offered to visitors, and has a Social membership available
for non golf playing guests.

Raglan Parc was founded in 1994 and is an 18-hole parkland course set in
128 acres, It is based on a design by a top UK course designer and provides
some of the most exciting holes in Monmouthshire. The golf club provides
quality golf at sensible prices. most importantly, the club members and
visitors enjoy competitive golf with an attractive social environment. The
combination of mature trees, water and rolling countryside provides a course
that is a comfortable walk and also an inspiring golfing challenge. The
course overlooks historic Raglan Castle with scenic views of the Brecon
Beacons National Park beyond.

Woodlake Park Golf Club has an undulating parkland 18 hole course set in
140 acres in one of the most beautiful areas of Gwent, Woodlake Park overlooks
the spectacular Llandegfedd reservoir, the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains
and the Vale of Usk making it the ideal location for a golf holiday. The
championship standard course has a par of 71 and standard scratch of 72.
Opened in 1993, the course has matured quickly and the quality of both fairways
and greens make this one of the finest inland golf courses in Wales. The
greens, including the practice greens, were all constructed to the U.S.Golf
Association specifications and are truly one of the major assets of the
course.

There are two courses at Dewstow on which to enjoy your golf, the Valley
and the Park. The Valley Course opened in 1988, and was developed around
the natural contours of the Dewstow estate meadowlands. It features many
mature trees which have been supplemented with the addition of several thousand
new trees, now themselves well established. A par 72, 6091 yards (off the
white tees), easy walking course, featuring several ponds supporting a plethora
of wild life, including Carp, Damsel and Dragon flies. It is not unusual
to see Buzzards performing slow, lazy circles in the sky over Caerwent throughout
the year. The Park Course a par 69, easy walking challenge, was initially
developed during 1992 and 1993, and follows the natural contours of the
gentle Monmouthshire hills. The River Severn, together with the two Sevem
bridges provide a beautiful backdrop to many of the 18 holes, and if you
love your wild life as much as your Golf you will love Dewstow Golf Club.
Pontypool

Pontypool is an 18 hole course with a mixture of heathland and parkland,
- located on the side of a mountain so the views are spectacular. Pontypool
Golf Club has been established since 1903 and celebrated its Centenary in
2003, It is situated above the town of Pontypool and has excellent views
of the Eastern Valley and down, across the Bristol Channel. Situated in
this idylic setting this course has lots of character and provides a good
challenge to all handicaps alike. Visitors and societies are most welcome.
Pontnewydd Golf

Pontnewydd is a meadowland course. Established in 1875, Pontnewydd is one
of Wales' older clubs if not the oldest. It has eleven different holes,
seven of which are played twice and from separate tees to form your full
18 holes. The course isn't long and stretches to just over 5, 000 yards,
but, being a mountain-type course, there are some tough examinations throughout
your round.

Newport is an 18 hole parkland course that stands 300 feet above sea level
and extends to over 6,500 yards. The course is situated in the magnificent
setting of the Llwyni Wood, an ancient Oak woodland, surrounded by rolling
parkland which contributes to the overall beauty and challenge of the course.
The highly dedicated Greenkeepers always maintain the course to the highest
standards with large teeing areas, well manicured fairways and excellent
putting surfaces providing a testing challenge to golfers of all standards.
The Clubhouse, which has recently undergone extensive restoration and modernisation
now provides a relaxing and friendly atmosphere to relax following a day's
enjoyable golf. Newport Golf Club is unquestionably a Welsh golfing must,
an obvious choice for those wishing to enjoy a beautiful yet challenging
course and experience the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of a traditional
member's club.

Greenmeadow Golf Club has an 18 hole parkland Par 70 course that measures
over 6,000 yards, with many tree lined undulating fairways, scenic water
hazards and many strategically positioned bunkers. The greens are excellent,
mainly due to the typical PGA recommended specification, employed during
construction, making them playable all year round. As well as the opportunity
to play golf, the views of the surrounding areas are spectacular. Visitors
are welcome and the Club is open to the public so you do not have to be
a member to enjoy all the facilities.

Cardiff Golf Club, founded in 1922, is a 6,000 yard parkland course with
a variety of mature trees which requires accurate tee shots and coupled
with the small to medium size greens demands a high standard of approach
shots. The course is well bunkered and an added hazard is a small stream
meandering through the course. Playing the course is a most pleasurable
experience, where it is difficult to imagine that you are in the environs
of Wales's largest and Capital city. Visiting golfers with handicap certificates
are welcome, but please check tee availability with the Secretary beforehand.
