Description TYN-YR-ERW is a 17th century farmhouse on the edge of Snowdonia National Park providing comfortable bunk house accommodation all year round. In the peace and quiet of the Welsh hills you can enjoy country life to the full.
Tyn-yr-Erw (pronounced tin - err - eroo) means "house in the acre" in Welsh, although we are actually set in five acres of gardens and land used for small holding.
We provide an ideal base for groups arranging their own activities such as lake and river sports, walking, adventure sports, geography and biology field studies, Duke of Edinburgh Award activities, training courses or simply visiting local tourist attractions.
Nearby Attractions Tyn-yr-Erw is situated at over 1000 feet with beautiful views over Cwm Main. Directly behind the house you can clamber up to an old Iron Age fort and then on to an ancient stone circle. There are many other local walks from our doorstep which are well maintained and signposted. The local pub and restaurant The Goat is a ten minute drive away.
For nature lovers we are a haven for birds, with buzzards, curlews, owls, hawks, wild geese and ducks, swallows, swifts and many others all making their home around (and sometimes in!) the farm buildings.
On the mammalian front there are foxes, hares, rabbits and badgers living close by the house.
There are rare plants and flowers growing all round the hills including orchids, and a range of different habitats within a small radius of the house including woodland, moors, bogs and meadows.
Bala is renowned for it's watersport facilities and is a seven mile drive away from Tyn-yr-Erw.
For the adventurous Canolfan Tryweryn provides white water rafting trips, canoeing and water safety courses.
We are idealy situated to take advantage of some of the best mountains for walking and climbing in Britain. Cader Idris, Arennig, Aran and of course Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) are all with in driving distance.
There are many renowned places for rock climbing in Snowdonia.
There are several horse riding centres in the area with many beautiful places to explore.
